After having slipped off from its flagship position due to market’s invasion by several Android phones and iPhone, Nokia has been in a desperate need to revamp its product line. As a result of this desperate need, here is present the newcomer, Nokia Lumia 800, which brings over the legacy of Nokia’s N series. With this phone, Nokia would possibly like to delve back into the market and being talked about again at every display stand.
Smartphones have provided us a variety of different ways in communicating. They have been well received and now just about 50% of all mobile use is conducted via Smartphones. They are very useful and the large screens enable internet browsing to be easy and efficient. The ability to share files, watch video and movies, play games, email, work and much more has made the Smartphone the must have commodity for the new decade. Yet some of the functionality leaves a lot to be desired.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro bears a resemblance to its bigger brothers and sisters, and that is meant literally. It is a Smartphone but it is the smallest Android OS phone on the market. Not everyone wants a giant screen on their phone understandably because it can make talking difficult. The Xperia Mini Pro therefore dispenses with that and opts for a smaller more compact design. Unlike last year’s X10 Mini Pro, the Xperia comes with a faster operating system and a more up to date version of Android.
So is it worth buying one? Well at £240 sim free, the Mini Pro could be considered a bargain when compared to the more expensive options on the market. Yet there are some technical difficulties to contend with. The firmware is not 100% full proof and there can be some slowdown and glitching on occasion. The camera is not the best and for anyone keen on taking photos this can be quite annoying. The small screen will almost seem like a throwback to those used to large icons and colours. Yet compact design is exactly what Sony intended so it seems churlish to complain about a small screen.
On the plus side document scanning services are made available via one of the numerous apps available on the phone. This can be particularly useful to anyone using the phone for business as the function allows you to store and upload thousands of documents direct from the phone. Having access to a cloud based storage service is particularly useful for this function. Other good things include a slick user interface with a slide out QWERTY keyboard that makes texting and typing more efficient. The software as mentioned is the latest version of Android. Known as %u2018Gingerbread'it does have much better functionality then the previous version and has allowed Sony to incorporate their own shortcuts which make navigation very easy.
Overall the Xperia Mini Pro is perfect for those who want a smaller phone with the same functionality as a normal Smartphone.
You can find the latest version of the iPhone operating system on iTunes. Last night when I was working on the Roller Banners for my company, I came across a link to download the latest version of iPhone. So I went ahead and downloaded it. After playing with my new iPhone for a few hours, here is my review.
The Good:
It has an enhanced camera. The performance of the camera on iPhone 3G3 is much quicker, it is faster More
The modern smart phones are all beginning to blur into an oneness. With so many iPhone clones appearing on the market it’s becoming an oddity to see a phone that also has a keyboard. Motorola have taken note of this gap in the market and their latest offering promises the best of both worlds. The Droid 3 (which has only just been released in the US and isn’t due in the UK until later in the year) boasts Google Android 2.3 and Gingerbread as part of its software package. Does it live up to the hype though?
With the specs that it boasts you would expect nothing less then the best interface and software and at first glance the phone looks very swish. It feels nicely heavy in the palm of your hand and has a metal frame which means that if you drop it then it is unlikely to break – Motorola really want to live up to their TV ads. More
Are you looking for a phone with excellent mobile gaming? I would encourage you to check out the new Xperia Play Android Smartphone (also known as the Playstation phone). It truly brings mobile gaming to a new level. So I went jogging the other day in my compression shorts and decided to stop in and buy this phone. Here is my review:
Sony made the phone look pretty classy but when you pick it up you realize how bulky it More
Verizon is the largest mobile network in the United States. In March of this year HTC released the Thunderbolt but the problem is that the Thunderbolt had a hard time going between 4G and 3G. The battery life of the Thunderbolt is also very poor. Later Samsung released the Droid Charge and promised it would be the best 4G phone on the market.
Here are the positive things about the Droid Charge:
It has warp-speed 4G: On the Thunderbolt Verizon’s More
If you want a popular PDA smartphone then you should check out the Motorola Q9. However just because you are popular doesn’t mean you perform the best. Just ask those involved in disaster recovery, just because a program or organization is popular doesn’t mean it does the best work in recovery efforts. The Motorola Q9 has a very dedicated fan base however like anything else it also has some drawbacks. Despite some of these issues it is still a More
Two apps released this month for all smartphones may not have many bells and whistles on them, but they are extremely useful.
First up is the ‘XBMC Constellation'app which allows you to control your desktop media centre via – click – remote control! There has been nothing more irritating with watching media files including films, podcasts and TV shows either on a big monitor or through your laptop, then having to drag yourself over to your keyboard or mouse to More
In world of the ‘must have'smartphones, the iphone generation series always manages to reign supreme. Apple really has a foothold as champions and leaders in the smartphone market and the innocuous Blackberry never seems to quite catch up. Now keeping up with the latest iphone release is likely to leave your wallet tighter than your new compression short, the privilege of being up to date in iphone generation models does not come cheap. Although the latest Blackberry models are More
People often ask me why, when the price of Nokia N8 and Apple;s iPhone or HTC’s best is similar, I have chosen the Nokia smartphone. Well, I truly love answering them!
Firstly, I believe there is no better camera than the one installed in the phone I bought (and I am sure many others have also thought the same way about the iPhone but before seeing the N8 camera). It has 12MP of resolution, takes HD video, has the HDMI More
